PURPOSE: To prevent the development of boiling in a mold caused by the air contamination and the enclosure of the air into the molten metal by shutting out the outside air by surrounding a molten metal flowing passage between a molten metal vessel and pouring tube by a fibrous forming body having heat resistance.
CONSTITUTION: The fibrous forming body 7 is arranged at a gap between the bottom part of molten metal vessel 1 and the upper end of pouring tube 5, and the molten metal flowing passage formed at the gap between the molten metal vessel 1 and pouring tube 5 is surrounded by the fibrous forming body 7 to shut off the outside air. In this way, the oxidation caused by bringing the molten metal 3 into contact with the air is prevented, and also the development of boiling in the ingot making mold caused by enclosure of the air is prevented and the ingot having excellent quality is obtd.
