To provide a monitor network apparatus which continues a monitoring operation, if a trouble occurs.
The apparatus comprises a plurality of units constituting imaging means 101, coding means 104 and decoding means 107, databases 121, 122, 123 having recorded setting items read in initial operations of these units, trouble watching means 103, 106, 109 for detecting the existence of a trouble in each unit, and select switches 102, 105, 108 each for selecting one of the plurality of units. If a trouble occurs in one unit selected by the select switch 102, 105, 108, the watching means 103, 106, 109 work so that the select switch 102, 105, 108 changes the troubled unit to some other unit having no trouble. If a trouble occurs in any working unit, the switch changes this unit to some other unit to continue a monitoring operation.
