Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled monofilament having excellent abrasive property, toughness, flexural fatigue resistance, etc., and suitable as an abrasive, by melt- spinning a composition composed of a synthetic polymer and a specific amount of spinel particle.
CONSTITUTION: The objective monofilament is produced by melt-spinning a composition composed of a synthetic polymer (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate) and 10W50wt.% (based on the polymer) of spinel particles (expressed by formula MgAl2O4, preferably having an aspect ratio of 1.0W1.3 and preferably containing particles of 0.02W1μm in diameter accounting for 85wt.% of the whole particles).
