To provide a monomer composition for optical materials for obtaining optical materials in which discoloration by UV-absorbers can be suppressed and excellent in colorless transparency, an optical material obtained by curing the same and a lens obtained by processing the optical material, and to provide a method for preventing discoloration at the curing.
The monomer composition for optical materials comprises a diallyl compound as a monomer component, a UV-absorber as an additive and an alcohol compound represented by formula (1) (wherein R1 denotes a phenyl group or a substituted phenyl group; and R2 and R3 each denotes a 1-3C alkyl group or a hydrogen atom, wherein R2 and R3 may be different or the same). Moreover, there is provided an optical material obtained by curing the monomer composition for optical materials and a method for preventing discoloration at the curing of the monomer composition for optical materials comprising adding the alcohol compound represented by formula (1).
