PURPOSE: To appropriately analyze a morpheme by giving d dictionary provided with KANJI (Chinese character), the reading, and weights at the time of a KANJI notation, a KANA (Japanese syllabary) notation and a KATAKANA (square from of KANA) notation and adding the weights so as to calculate scores.

CONSTITUTION: A word string candidate generation means 1 calls a dictionary retrieval means 2. The means 2 retrieves one existing in a character string among the KANJI notation, the reading and KATAKANA obtained by converting it from the reading. When all the words are retreived, respective words are connected and the candidate of the possible word string can be obtained. A word string selection means 4 calculates the score as to the candidate of the obtained word string and selects the candidate whose score is the highest as a solution. At that time, the scores of respective word strings are calculated by using the weights of respective notations in the dictionary and the scroes in a connection table 5. A word string output means 6 outputs the obtained word string to the other application and a screen.
