To provide a motion compensating apparatus capable of simultaneously decoding a plurality of encoded signals by reducing not only the number of pixels of pixel data to be read from a multi-frame memory but also computational complexity in decimal accurate pixel generating motion compensation in motion compensation of a decoding device that decodes the plurality of encoded signals.
The motion compensating apparatus comprises: a motion compensating means for producing a decoded image by predicting motion of an image between a picture to be decoded in a decoding means and a reference-enabled picture among decoded images stored in a shared storage means; a motion compensation mode input means for inputting a mode, to the motion compensating means, during which a size of a block to perform motion compensation thereon is changed; and a motion compensation correcting means for correcting a parameter required for performing motion compensation when changing the size of the block to perform motion compensation thereon during the motion compensation mode.
