Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retrieve two field motion vector and frame motion vector simultaneously in the motion vector retrieval device.
SOLUTION: A register and a computing element in a distortion calculation unit in the motion vector retrieval device is provided with 1st flip-flop circuits 3121, 4221, 4321 and 2nd flip-flop circuits 3122, 4222, 4322, two field picture element data are sent in time division and two sets of distortion are calculated in time division. Furthermore, the two sets of distortion are added to obtain frame distortion and field and frame motion vectors are obtained respectively to obtain the two field and frame motion vectors simultaneously.
