To properly control the operating state of a converter in square-wave voltage control so that torque controllability and efficiency are balanced in motor control equipment so configured that it can variably control the direct current voltage of an inverter by the converter.
When the voltage phase v requested in square-wave voltage control becomes higher than a boosting determination phase, a boosting request is issued to the converter. When the required torque of a motor is large, the boosting determination phase is set low (0). Therefore, high torque can be easily ensured by early boosting the direct current voltage of the inverter. As a result, torque controllability is enhanced. When the required torque of the motor is small, the boosting determination phase is set high (1). Therefore, the converter can be operated for a long time in non-boosting mode in which switching loss is low.
