Abstract:
To decrease the number of components for stabilizing a backlash amount without causing a driving gear to be enlarged compared with a conventional one.
A through hole 41 is formed at the rotational center of a worm 4 rotated by a motor 1 for assisting steering and meshing with a worm wheel 5, and one end of a flexible shaft 3 is coupled interlockingly with the output shaft 1a of the motor 1 while the other end is coupled with the through hole 41, and the worm 4 is pressed resiliently in the radial direction by the deflection of the flexible shaft 3 so as to reduce the backlash amount of the meshing part between the worm 4 and the worm wheel 5, and thereby a sound generated by backlash is reduced.
