To induce torque efficiently from a superconducting coil with a small quantity of a wire material.
A rotor 15 is cooled indirectly from the outer circumference (stator 13 side) by a means of not only supplying a refrigerant for the superconducting operation of a superconducting coil 17 to a rotary shaft 21 of the rotor 15 but cooling a stator 13 to a superconducting temperature. A normal conducting coil may be employed in the stator 13. Even if a heat insulation space 35 at the outer circumference of the rotor 15 is substantially eliminated at a moment when the rotor 15 and the stator 13 approach most in order to enhance the torque of the motor 3, the superconducting coil of the rotor 15 can be sustained in a superconducting state and torque can be induced efficiently with the small quantity of the wire material.
