PURPOSE: To move a cursor to an objective position without requiring excess labor by optionaly specifying a cursor moving direction on the screen of a display device and moving the cursor only by a distance based upon a mouse moving variable signal in the specified direction.
CONSTITUTION: When the mouse body is moved to the objective position, a signal generation part 23 is rotated and a moving variable detecting part 24 detects its rotational frequency and rotating direction and outputs a pulse signal. An YX moving variable conversion part 33 checks whether the cursor moving direction is specified from direction specification switch 22 or not. When the switch is not depressed, the pulse signal from the detection part 24 is outputted as it is. When the switch 22 is depressed and an optional direction is specified, the conversion part 33 detects the status of the mouse body. A status detection part 32 detects the status of the mouse based upon the pulse signal outputted from the detection part 24 and sends the detected result to the conversion part 33. A cursor movement control part 25 moves the cursor in the specified direction based upon the moving variable signal.
