PURPOSE: To provide a movable cable device for an elevator, which can prevent cables suspended in parallel with one another and connected to the elevator car, from oscillating due to movement of the elevator car.

CONSTITUTION: Cables 1 are suspended in parallel with one another, and are connected together by coupling means 15 along the longitudinal direction. With this arrangement, the cables 1 interfere with one another so as to restrain them from oscillating due to movement of an elevator car 11. Thereby it is possible to prevent hindrance to the operation of the elevator, which occurs when the oscillating cables are caught to a protrusion in the elevator shaft. Further, it is possible to eliminate the necessity of the provision of a member for preventing an accident in which the oscillating cables is caught, thereby the manufacturing cost can be reduced.
