Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make it possible to display the flow velocity spectogram of blood flow by selectively exciting regions including noticed blood flow parts and sampling the spins of the blood flow parts generated by impressing a flow encoding gradient in the blood flow direction.
CONSTITUTION: The regions including the noticed blood flow parts are selectively excited by slicing by 90° pulses and slice gradient Sz1 and slicing by 180° pulses and slice gradients Sz2, Sx, Sy and thereafter the flow encoding gradient FE is continuously impressed to a z-axis coinciding with the blood flow direction of the noticed blood flow parts to generate a phase shift by each specified quantity in the spins of the noticed blood flow parts. Sampling timing is then synchronized with the timing to end the impression of the flow encoding gradient FE and the sampling data integrated with the phase shift at the specified quantity each are collected. The sampling data are then frequency analyzed by Fourier transform and the flow velocity of the spins corresponding to the phase shifts is determined. The flow velocity spectogram is displayed.
