Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve manufacturability, and to simplify plating process by forming a tail pipe, which is connected to a tail end of a muffler body, from a panting pipe wound with fibre sound deadener such as glass wool and the like, and a steel pipe connected to the tail end. CONSTITUTION:A muffler body 1 is formed so as to have a duplex structure of an outer body 11a and an inner body 11b. A third expansion chamber 5c, which is partitioned inside the muffler body 1, is communicated with the atmosphere by means of a third buffer plate 4c and a tail pipe 12 passing through a tail plate 6. In this case, the tail pipe 12 has many small holes 13 within an interference chamber 7 and is wound firstly with glass wool 14 and next with an outer pipe 15 on its outer surface. The tail pipe 12 is formed from a panting pipe 12a having small holes 13, and a short steel pipe 12b connected to the panting pipe 12a.
