To provide a multi-carrier communication device that can execute communication in proper way, even when reflection of a branch line or the like exists in the power line carrier and part of a carrier in a transmission signal band is considerably attenuated.
A modem 2 is provided with an IFFT circuit 7, that applies multi-carrier modulation to phase modulated data in any station and with a strength setting section 63 that varies the strength of each carrier supplied to the IFFT circuit 7, while taking into account a line attenuation characteristic. A transmission level arithmetic section 62 calculates the setting strength, on the basis of the reception strength of each carrier measured by a strength measurement section 61. Thus, characteristic which compensates for the attenuation characteristic of the line is employed for the strength of each carrier and communication is attained without hindrance, even if specific carrier is attenuated.
