Abstract:
PURPOSE:To decrease width of an engine and reduce a meshing noise of gears, in the engine having a balancer shaft parallelly arranged to a crankshaft further coupled to the crankshaft through a transmission gear, by arranging the transmission gear on the crankshaft between cyinders. CONSTITUTION:In an engine, where a crankshaft 10 is pivotally supported to a crank case 8 through bearings 32, 34, 36, and a balncer shaft 12 is pivotally supported to the crank case 8 similarly through bearings 48, 50, 52 in parallel to the crankshaft 10, a transmission gear 14, coupling the balancer shaft 12 to the crankshaft 10, is arranged between cylinders, that is, between connecting rods 44, 46. This transmission gear 14 is constituted by a gear 58 at a side of the crankshaft 10 and a ring gear 60 at a side of the balancer shaft 12, and the ring gear 60 is mounted to a boss 64 integrally formed with the balancer shaft 12 through springs 62. The plural springs, for instance, six springs 62 are circumferentially and equally arranged, housed and held by side plates 72 fixed to both sides of the boss 64 by machine screws 74.
