PURPOSE: To dry both sides of a belt type wet member quickly by heating and exposing them to vacuum while binding and supporting the wet member over the transfer passages of the same.

CONSTITUTION: A multi-cylinder type drying device is equipped with one series of cylinder groups consisting of a first cylinder group and a second cylinder group and first and second endless belts 8, 9. The first cylinder group is constituted of an introducing suction cylinder 1a and a guide-out suction cylinder 1b, arranged in parallel so as to be neighbored to each other in the direction of front-and-rear, and an upper side heating cylinder 3, arranged so as to be neighbored to the suction cylinders 3a, 3b. A belt type wet member (w) is transferred in zigzag while being wound around respective cylinders sequentially. The wet member (w) is retained and supported by either one of suction cylinders so as to keep either one of the endless belts at the lower side of the same while the same is bound and supported by a heating cylinder so as to keep either one of the endless belts at the upper side of the same and is guided between neighboring suction cylinders while being pinched by the endless belts 8, 9.
