Abstract:
To provide a multi-entity inventory management system including re-assignable storage bins and a method for managing product inventory of different entities, for example, vendors, at one or more facilities including one or more storage structures served by robotic handlers.SOLUTION: Provided is a computerized inventory management system (CIMS) 400 for delivering each storage bin that stores one or more individual pieces of products to a manned workstation, and that is configured to: store digital records including entity identifiers, product catalogues containing product identifiers of the products to be provided by each entity to customers, and unique bin identifiers to be assigned to the storage bins; execute a digital transfer of ownership of inventory from a stocked entity to a needful entity based on an inventory shortfall, a complete absence of inventory for the needful entity, orders for product inventory being received, etc.; and execute commerce between the entities along with an inventory swap through the storage bins, and implement inventory reservations.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4C
