PURPOSE: To prevent flickering by dividing one frame into four fields and setting them with a specific display, and making a display with proper gradations on two pixels.
CONSTITUTION: One frame is displayed while divided into four fields. The polarities of the driving voltages to a pixel in the 1st - 4th are set to +, +, -, and -; +, -, -, and +; - - +, and +; or -, +, +, and - in the field order; when there are two pixels whose most significant bit of a digital video input signal displayed on four right, left, upper, and lower adjacent pixels is '0' or '1', a display with gradations as many as or one less than the high-order (m)-bit value of the input signal is made on the two pixels in common as to each field. Here, m ≥ 1. Consequently, four upper, lower, right, and left adjacent picture elements are displayed equivalently with the same gradation throughout one frame to make flickering hard to occur.
