Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize the spinning characteristics to a maximum, and improve the flying performance of a golf ball by a method wherein, when the range of a product for Shore D hardnesses between an internal layer cover and an external layer cover is subdivided, a dimple parameter in the subdivided product is specified. SOLUTION: This multi-piece golf ball has a solid core and internal and external two layers of covers to cover the solid core, and a large number of dimples 1 are formed on the surface of the external layer cover. In this case, a dimple parameter is set in such a manner that the relationship between a product S of respective Shore D hardnesses of the internal layer and external layer covers, and a ratio VR% between the sum of total dimples of dimple space volumes, and the total volume of a virtual ball wherein it is assumed that there is no dimple, may satisfy either one of when S is 1500-2000, VR 0.8-1.1%; when S is 2000-2500, VR 0.75-1.05%; when S is 2500-3000, VR 0.7-1%; when S is 3000-3500, VR 0.65-0.95%; when S is 3500-4000, VR 0.6-0.9%.
