Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-valued image printer adopting a compression system for processing in the unit of blocks such as Joint Photographic Coding Experts Group(JPEG) or the like that provides high-speed printing with less load on the firm ware through expansion printing, without the need for image data expansion to a main memory in data expansion so as to decrease the occupancy rate of memory buses.
SOLUTION: A JPEG processing section 4 compresses multi-valued pixel data in a main memory 3 and rites compressed codes to the main memory 3 and reads and expands the compressed codes from the main memory 3 and writes the expanded codes to the main memory 3, as required. The JPEG processing section 4 reads the compressed codes from the main memory during printing, expands the codes and stores the expanded data to an SRAM 5 once and outputs the data to a printer engine 6.
