Abstract:
PURPOSE: To perform multicolor transfer through single print by providing a dye layer of more than one kind of homogeneous fixing beads of different color, each containing an image dye, a binder, or the like, on a support.
CONSTITUTION: Beads are produced by applying an evaporated limited coalescence method to a dye comprising cyan, magenta and yellow dyes and a laser light absorbing substance. The beads are admixed into an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol, pullulan, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, and the like, to prepare a coating liquid for dye layer. The coating liquid is applied onto a support, e.g. a transparent plastic film or glass, and dried to form the dye layer containing beads mixture thus obtaining a multicolor dye donor element for laser induction thermal transfer of dye. Grain size of the beads is preferably 0.1-20 μm, more preferably about 1 μm. A multicolor image can be printed out by passing the dye thus obtained only once.
