PURPOSE: To make it possible to record a multicolored image having continuous gradation by irradiation with light and to simplify the production of recording paper by incorporating two or more kinds of specified triphenylmethane compds.
CONSTITUTION: Two or more kinds of triphenylmethane compds. represented by the formula are used as photosensitive couplers and a soln. of the compds. is directly impregnated into a support such as fine paper. The resulting recording paper is allowed to develop colors by irradiation with light and a multicolored image having continuous gradation is recorded. In the formula, each of X1-X3 is H, halogen, alkyl, nitro, etc., each of Y1-Y3 is H, halogen, alkyl, amino, etc., and Z is hydroxyl, cyano, alkoxyl, etc. Malachite green leuco cyanide and rosaniline leuco cyanide may be used in combination as the photosensitive couplers.
