Title:
MULTIELEMENT MAGNETIC HEAD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5750318
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce waveform distortion to improve a signal quality, by arranging terminals of the bias conductor of a three-terminal multielement magnetic head in boundaries and centers of tracks and by supplying the current of the bias conductor from the terminal placed on boundaries between tracks.

CONSTITUTION: An MR element 9 is formed into a prescribed form, and an insulating layer is formed on it, and the insulating layer of a center terminal 11 of each track is removed, and a bias conductor 10 is formed on the MR element 9. Resistance RB/2 and RB are connected to the terminal on boundaries between respective tracks and terminals at both ends, and they are connected to a bias power source VB, thereby supplying a bias current. If the center terminal 11 of each track is grounded, the MR element 9 corresponding to each track is separated into two in the center, and separated elements are biased by bias magnetic fields which have an equal magnitude and directions opposite to each other, and the output of the MR element 9 separated into two is amplified differentially to obtain the output of each track. Thus, waveform distortion is reduced to improve a signal quality.
