PURPOSE: To facilitate the manufacture of the titled heat exchanger and to improve the heat transfer efficiency thereof by a method wherein a plurality of vertical cylindrical shells of different diameters are arranged in a plurality of layers to thereby form fluid passages and a fin 7 is attached to the fluid passages.
CONSTITUTION: The vertical cylindrical shells 3W8 of different diameters are arranged in a plurality of layers. Then first fluid passages 11W13 and second fluid passages 14W16 are formed around the vertical cylindrical shells 3W8 and the plate fin 17 is attached to the fluid passages. As a result, the fin 17 is fixed to the cylindrical shell of a large diameter so that the manufacture of the heat exchanger is facilitated and even when the flow rate of a fluid passing through each of the passages 11W16 is small, the widths of the passages are reduced to increase the flow velocity of the fluid to thereby increase the heat transfer efficiency of the heat exchanger.
