PURPOSE: To provide a multilayer sliding bearing material excellent in wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
CONSTITUTION: A multilayer sliding bearing material has a lead bronze bearing alloy layer 8 formed on a steel plate or steel plate with copper plating 3, and also a lead overlay layer 9 containing zinc to enhance the corrosion resistance and conformatibility of the bearing alloy layer 8. A copper zinc alloy layer 11 having a thickness of 0.5-10μm is provided between the copper matrix Cu of the bearing alloy layer 8 and the overlay layer 9, and the thin and indium of the overlay layer 9 are prevented from being diffused into the copper matrix Cu of the bearing alloy layer 8 by this copper zinc alloy layer 1. This multilayer sliding bearing material can be obtained by rolling and pressure-welding a bimetal plate in which the steel plate or plate with copper plating 3 is lined with the copper lead bearing alloy layer, and an alloy plate for the lead overlay layer containing zinc at a full draft of 8-48% followed by thermal treatment at 170-250°C.
