Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wire and cable using a peroxide crosslinked resin composition excellent in blocking resistance in a pellet form during storage at normal temperature, without limitations of molding conditions even when using a raw material containing organic peroxide, good in electric characteristics in water immersion, and capable of controlling generation of harmful gas during combustion.SOLUTION: The electric wire comprises a conductor 11a and an insulator 11b sheathed around the outer periphery of the conductor. As the insulator, a peroxide crosslinked resin composition is used, which exhibited a normal-temperature storability which suppressed blocking of pellets after 20 kg of pellets of the resign composition were packed into a 420 mm×820 mm paper bag, then two such bags were stacked together and stored in a constant-temperature bath at 40 degrees Celsius for 240 hours. The insulator exhibited an extrudability which was 20 m/min or more of maximum take-off speed when the peroxide crosslinked resin composition was extruded by a 4.5 inch continuous steam crosslinking extruder. The insulator has an electric characteristic in which no short-circuiting occurred for 10 days when the peroxide crosslinked resin composition was immersed in 3% concentration salt water at 85 degrees Celsius, and 4.5 kV and 1.5 kV direct current stability test was conducted. The amount of carbon monoxide emission is 30 m/g or less.
