To provide a multilevel refrigerating device of high reliability that is operated stably as it is capable of preventing a liquid refrigerant from accumulating in a low-level liquid receiving container even if the volume of the low-level liquid receiving container is small.
In a multilevel refrigerating device having a liquid-filled-type cooler 11 in a low-level refrigerating cycle 2, an on-off valve 17 is provided in a portion of a low-pressure branch pipe 16 connected to a portion of the low-pressure refrigerant pipe 12 of the low-level refrigerating cycle 2 at one end and to a pressure protection container 14 at the other end, the on-off valve 17 being open normally, being closed when the amount of liquid refrigerant retained in the low-level liquid receiving container 9 is equal to or greater than a set value, and being open again when the amount of liquid refrigerant retained in the low-level liquid receiving container 9 drops to less than the preset value because of the feed of the liquid refrigerant into the cooler 11.
