Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain efficient communication by using the most suitable interrupt control system even in the case of making communication with a plurality of communication protocols.
SOLUTION: The multimedia communication controller that sets up a plurality of communication channels 1, 2 on a communication channel to make communication has the most suitable interrupt control method to each communication protocol. Since an ATM communication controller 5 has a plurality of interrupt cause registers 6, 7, the controller 5 assigns an interrupt cause register to each communication protocol and can selects the interrupt control system most suitable for the communication protocol. Specifically the INT system is assigned to the IP over ATM and the LOOK IN system is assigned to the MPEG over ATM and efficient communication is attained by both the communication protocols.
