PURPOSE: To produce a multimetal oxide composition with improved activity as catalyst, selectivity, reproducibility of production and effective life by mixing pulverized preformed specific oxometaliate with other specific oxometaliate and calcining.
CONSTITUTION: Oxometaliate B expressed by formula III is preformed in a pulverized form and is mixed with a pulverized uniform dry mixture of source materials of elementary constituents of oxometaliate A expressed by formula II. The mixture is clacined at a temp. of 250-450°C to obtain the objective multimetal oxide composition expressed by formula I. In the formulas, X1 is P atom or the like; X2 is V atom or the like, X3 is H atom ≤97 mol.% of which can be replaced by K atom or the like; X4 is Sb atom or the like; X5 is Re atom or the like; X6 is Mo atom or the like; X7 is Fe atom or the like; X8 is Li atom or the like; a is 1-6; b is 0-6; c is 3-5; d is 0-6; e is 0-3; f is 0-3; g is 0-20; h is 0-4; x, y express valences or the like of the elements in the formula I other than oxygen atom.
