Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a contraceptive formulation having multiple phases and administered in a specific order by including contraceptive materials, progestron and estragen, in a unit dose for oral administration. CONSTITUTION: This contraceptive formulation having multiple phases has at least two phases which consist of a first phase containing both of a progestogen (e.g. desogestrel) and an estrogen (e.g. 17β-estradiol) and consisting of 20-22 dose units, preferably 21 dose units and a second phase solely containing the progestogen as an active material and consisting of 2-10 dose units, preferably 7 dose units and is prepared to contain 20-30 dose units. The dose units of the first phase for 20-22 days and those of the second phase for 2-10 days are continuously administered. The progestogen in the second phase is 0.020-0.125mg, the total amount of the progestogen in the first and the second phases is 1.5-3.5mg and the sum total of the estrogen to be contained is 30-75mg.
