Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide multiple rows of rolling bearings for supporting rolls of a rolling mill equipment whose manufacturing cost is low and maintenance cycle is long.
SOLUTION: The bearing ring and rolling element of 4-row rolling bearings 4 and 5 built in bearing boxes 6 and 7 to support neck portions 2a and 3a of work roll 2 and backup roll 3 is made of steel containing, as alloy elements, 0.2-0.3 mass % C, 2.5-3.0 mass % Ni, 1.0 mass % or less Cr, and 0.2-0.3 mass % Mo, and a carburized layer is formed on the surface to make the surface hordness to be HRC58 or more in Rockwell hardness. This makes it possible to reduce the material cost and heat treatment cost in comparison with the multiple-row rolling bearings using the conventional material for bearing, improve rolling fatigue characteristic and wear resistance and surface damage resistance, and extend the maintenance cycle, thus contributing to extension of the roll changing cycle of the rolling mill equipment.
