Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain two kinds of small valve lift maintaining sufficient maximum valve lift by supplying operating medium to both of the first and the second charge/discharge ports to displace the first, the second and the third piston to open a valve member to the extent of total open stroke of the first, the second and the third open stroke.
SOLUTION: Allowable displacement of the first piston 26 to the direction of a valve member 16 is L2, allowable displacement of the second piston 30 from the first piston 26 of the direction of the valve member 16 is L3, and allowable displacement of the third piston 48 from the second piston 30 of the direction of the valve member 16 is L1. The setting stroke L2 of the first piston 26 can be freely set by changing the thickness of a shim 7 inserted between an upper housing 12a and a lower housing 12b, for instance. The setting stroke L3 and L2 of the second piston 30 and the third piston 48 can be changed with the thickness of the first and the second stopper ring 38 and 54, etc., without changing the fundamental dimension of each piston 26, 30 and 48.
