To prevent the occurrence of a water hammer phenomenon, emulsification of oil, or the like, which is caused by excessive cooling by an intermediate cooler under a low temperatures in a multistage scroll type compressor.
A multistage scroll type compressor is provided with a bypass passage 29 which guides a pressurized gas discharged from a low pressure pressurizing stage part A directly to a suction side 24 of a high pressure pressurizing stage part B without passing it through the intermediate cooler 26, and a discharge temperature detection means 30 for detecting temperature of the pressurized gas discharged from the low pressure pressurizing stage part A. In the case that the temperature of the pressurized gas detected by the discharge temperature detection means 30 of the low pressure pressurizing stage part is higher than a set point, the pressurized gas discharged from the low pressure pressurizing stage part A is guided via the intermediate cooler 26 to the suction side 24 of the high pressure pressurizing stage part B, whereas in the case that the temperature of the pressurized gas detected by the discharge temperature detection means 30 of the low pressure pressurizing stage part is lower than the set point, the pressurized gas discharged from the low pressure pressurizing stage part A is guided by the bypass passage 29 directly to the suction side 24 of the high pressure pressurizing stage part B without passing through the intermediate cooler 26.
