To develop a muscle training device designed to improve the walking ability.
A leg press machine is well known as one of the muscle training device. However, the direction of its exercise is worked only on a single plane (sagittal plane) and, when the treatment of a rehabilitation, especially the improvement in the walking ability, is expected, the three-dimensional exercise (spiral movement) added with the rotary movement of the hip joints as well as the leg extension exercise becomes an extremely important. Consequently, a lower leg sliding function and a lower leg rotating exercise function are newly attached to the conventional leg press machine to construct a system which simultaneously performs external and internal rotation exercises of the hip joints while extending the legs. This system can thus achieve the muscle training of the lower legs in a state close to the actual walking movement to exert effective results on the improvement in the gait.
