Title:
MUSICAL SOUND REPRODUCING DEVICE AND PORTABLE TERMINAL DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3642039
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time spent for timbre variation processing even when timbre parameters are stored in a general purpose storage means.
SOLUTION: A CPU 10 registers a timbre parameter group consisting of an arbitrary number of parameters read out of a RAM 11 in a sound source memory 30 as a general memory. Timbre parameters that a sound source core 33 requires when reproducing a musical sound are stored in a cache memory 32 for all channels. When the CPU 10 gives a timbre change instruction to a control part 31, specified timbre parameters are read out of the sound source memory 30. Then the timbre parameters of a specified channel in the cache memory 32 are rewritten with the read-out timbre parameters. Consequently, the sound source core 33 reads timbre parameters set by channels out of the cache memory 32 and reproduces a musical sound, so that the musical sound with the changed timbre can be reproduced.
