Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a novel N-cyclohexyl-N-phenyl-alkoxyaniline extremely useful as an intermediate for synthetic dyes and rubber agents, especially, an intermediate for fluoran compounds useful as a coloring compound for pressure- sensitive or heat-sensitive recording.
CONSTITUTION: A N-cyclohexyl-N-phenyl-alkoxyaniline expressed by the formula I (R is lower alkyl; R' is H or lower alkyl), e.g. N-cyclohexyl-N-phenyl-4- methoxyaniline. The compound of formula I is obtained by subjecting phenol to heat reaction with N-cyclohexyl-alkoxyaniline and cyclohexanone in the presence of a hydrogen transfer catalyst.
