NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I (R1 is halogen, lower alkyl, cyano, etc.; R2 is lower alkyl which may be replaced, lower alkenyl, or lower alkynyl; with the proviso that R2 is neither difluoromethyl nor 2,2,2- trifluoroethyl; R3 is 1W8C alkyl, 3W8C alkenyl, lower cycloalkyl, etc.; X and Y are O or S; Z is H, lower alkyl, halogen, etc.).
EXAMPLE: Isopropyl N-(3-ethyl-4-ethoxyphenyl)carbamate.
USE: An agricultural and gardening fungicide. Showing selectively high fungicidal effect on fungi resistant to drugs having resistance to cyclic imide-based fungicide.
PROCESS: An aniline derivative shown by the formula II (R1 is 2W4C alkyl, etc.) is reacted with chloroformate or chlorothioformate shown by the formula III, to give a compound shown by the formula IV.
