PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a liquid crystal display device eliminating an effect to the liquid crystal display device due to incident light, etc., from the outside and display controlling the liquid crystal display device in an optimum state.
SOLUTION: A light quantity made incident on a display surface 1 of a liquid crystal display element 11 from the outside is detected by an external light quantity detection part 4, and the light quantity of a light emission part arranged on the rear surface side of the liquid crystal display element 11 is adjusted by a light control means based on this detection result, and the deterioration in display contrast on the display surface of the liquid crystal display element 11 due to the incident light from the outside is prevented, and the optimum display is performed without being affected from the outside.
