PURPOSE: To provide the silicone-coated base fabric for an air bag, excellent in folding and accommodating properties and sewing-processability and exhibiting a bond strength high enough to resist to impact in extension, especially extension at high temperatures.
CONSTITUTION: This invented base fabric for an air bag is obtained by coating the surface of a polyamide textile fabric or a polyester textile fabric with a curable organopolysiloxane composition composed of (A) an organopolysiloxane raw rubber containing two or more alkenyl groups in one molecule, (B) fine powder of silica, (C) an organopolysiloxane containing one or more trialkoxysilyl groups bonded through a carbon atom to a silicon atom, one or more epoxy group-containing organic groups and three or more hydrogen atoms each bonded to a silicon atom in one molecule and having the main chain containing five or more carbon atoms, (D) a catalyst for hydrosilylation reaction and (E) an organic solvent and then thermosetting the composition.
