Abstract:

PURPOSE: To miniaturize a device while restraining heat transmission from a fixing device to a laser scanning unit or a process cartridge.

CONSTITUTION: A distance between the fixing device 8 and the process cartridge 3 is made small, and a 1st exhaust path 18 through which air passes is formed between them and constituted so that the air is exhausted by a ventilating fan 25. The fixing device 8, the 1st exhaust path 18, and the process cartridge 3 are separated from the laser scanning unit 2 by a partition wall 15. The air is passed through the path 18 to form an air curtain, so that the heat transmission is prevented, and warmed air is prevented from directly colliding with the unit 2. A heat radiation preventing wall 27 is provided in the path 18 at a part on a downstream side, and heat radiation from the fixing device 8 is prevented.
