PURPOSE: To obtain a vertical marking apparatus by which a marking operation in a vertical position can be executed to a floor and a ceiling easily and precisely.

CONSTITUTION: A vertical marking apparatus is composed of an axial pipe C which can be attached to, and removed from, a support lever 5, of a body pipe B which is fitted to the axial pipe C so as to be movable in the axial direction, of an elastic member D which is interposed and mounted between the axial pipe C and the body pipe B, of a string conductor A which is attached to the head part of the body pipe B via a rocking device so as to be capable of being turned at least in a seesaw manner, of a magnetic-substance plate E which is attached to the side part of the body tube B and of a plumb-hob utensil F which can be attached to, and removed from, the magnetic-substance plate E. The string conductor A, a roller 9 which guides a thread 11 for the plumb-hob utensil F on its upper part, a groove 10 and a positioning plate 7 are provided in this order, and a slip-preventing elastic body 6 which is pressed directly to a ceiling face is provided on the surface.
