PURPOSE: To provide a navigation apparatus which can show an appropriate route under various situations on the basis of presents route data.
CONSTITUTION: A route point data storage means stores route point data corresponding to route points which are to be passed on a way from a start point to a destination. A route point distance calculating means calculates, based on the route point data, respective route point distances from a current point to the respective route points in various cases where the route point is a final destination or the route point is one of target route points respectively, and in a route point distance comparing means, the route point distance is sequentially compared with a detection reference distance. A target point determining means, based on results of the comparison in the route point comparing means, functions so that a route point next to that used for the calculation of the route point distance is a next target point when the route point distance is smaller than the detection reference distance.
