Title:
CONTROLLER FOR FLOW OF MOLTEN STEEL IN CONTINUOUS CASTING MOLD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2607333
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable the production of a cast slab excellent in surface characteristic by controlling electromagnetic coils for controlling flow velocity at a meniscus in a mold to a specific value of the flowing speed with the specific value of the frequency.
CONSTITUTION: The electromagnetic coils 7-1, 7-2 for electromagnetic-stirring molten steel discharged from an immersion nozzle 2 inserted into the continuous casting mold 1 are provided. By making the stirring pattern for which the electromagnetic coil center directs to short side from a mold center selectable, the magnetic field impressing direction of each electromagnetic coil can independently be controlled. A control system is connected with the electromagnetic coil so that the flow velocity of the molten steel at the meniscus becomes 10-60 cm/sec by impressing a mobile magnetic field having 50-40000 coil pitch L (mm) ×magnetic field frequency (f) (herz).
