PURPOSE: To solve such a problem that materials are left behind, for raising the storing efficiency, by setting temporary rest shelves for materials between vertically neighbouring storage shelves set at the proper heights.

CONSTITUTION: In a three-dimensional warehouse 1 comprising a plural number of storage shelves 7 vertically arranged for storing a plural number of materials W, one or two temporary rest shelves 19 for temporarily placing materials W thereon are set at the proper heights between the vertically neighbouring storage shelves 7, 7. Material W2 which should be carried out to the end of the storage shelf 7, is temporarily put on the temporary rest shelf 19 by a stacker crane 11, and another material W1 which should be carried out afterwards, is stored on the inner side of the storage shelf 7. After that, the former material W2 is moved from the temporary rest shelf 19 and stored on this side of the storage shelf 7 on which the other material W1 has been already stored.
