PURPOSE: To provide a laser type wavelength conversion equipment wherein large oscillation output corresponding to the laser gain of a nonlinear optical medium is obtained, and high power density can be realized.
CONSTITUTION: A core 14 is formed by doping Ti in an Nd:MgO:LiNbO3 substrate 13 having laser gain, primary electrooptic effect and secondary optical nonlinear effect. Hence light confinement is improved. Vapor deposition mirrors 15, 16 of dielectric multilayered film are formed on both end surfaces of the substrate 13. A comb type electrode 17 whose period is 2 π/Δβ (where is the difference of propagation constants of the TE mode and the TM mode in the laser oscillation wavelength) is formed so as to bridge the core 14. By applying a voltage to the comb type electrode 17, coupling between the TE mode and the TM mode is induced, so that the laser oscillation light contains c-axis polarized light and b-axis polarized light.
