PURPOSE: To obtain a crosshead bearing shell metal which improves reliability of an engine by circularly forming a cutout-shaped end part of a shell metal, thereby preventing fretting phenomenon on an outer peripheral surface of the shell metal, and elongating the life of the shell metal.
CONSTITUTION: A cutout-shaped shell metal 1 is adopted to an end of a shell metal for a two-stroke crosshead internal combustion engine. A cutout-shaped end part 3a is formed to be a circular arc 2, so that the shell metal 1 has a shape corresponding to direction of pressing force to a connecting rod by means of an upper bearing. A portion to which the pressing force is hard to be transmitted is eliminated. Sufficient pressing force is thus applied to a whole surface of the shell metal. A back plate of the metal 1 is in strong, total and close contact with the connecting rod. Life of the shell metal is elongated, and reliability of an engine is improved.
