PURPOSE: To provide a method of removing a melted slag simply and securely and a melted slag removal apparatus.

CONSTITUTION: A portion of a spooning dish 40 including a small hole for discharging a melted slag in the bottom thereof, the portion being located at an end of the dish in the direction of the width of the dish, is horizontally hung from rotary driving shafts 16, 17 hung from the upper portion of the center of a crucible furnace through parallel links 22, 23 with a greater width than the inner radius of the circular horizontal section crucible furnace. In the state, the spooning dish 40 is horizontally rocked opposittely to an outer end side thereof, the spooning dish 40 is lowered onto the surface of the melted slag, and a side end part of the spooning dish 40 on the opposite side of a hang side of the same is biassed against and brought into contact with the internal wall of the crucible furnace owing to the self weight thereof. In this state the spooning dish 40 is horizontally swung to spoon the slug floating on the melt surface.
