Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase an MR ratio by providing a metallic reflection film that can easily generate reflected scattering, while maintaining the spin direction of an electron on the surface of a spin valve film. SOLUTION: A metallic reflection film 6 is added to the configuration of a basic spin valve film in a configuration of a soft magnetic film 3, a non- magnetic 4, and a hard magnetic property film 5. For example, Ag, Au, Bi, Sn, and Pb and the like should be used for the metal reflection film 6, and a level of several angstroms is measured on the surface for forming a smooth surface. Ag and Au are especially superior, and Ag is most effective. Therefore, a large number of conductive electrons are subjected to specular reflection on the surface of the metallic reflection film 6, and relatively spin information is maintained. In this manner, when electrons is subjected to the specular reflection on the thin film surface, the same effect as one where a magnetic property layer/non-magnetic layer are laminated in a multiple layer can be obtained, thus increasing an MR ratio.
