PURPOSE: To obtain the sufficient quantity of illumination light irrelevantly to the length of an insertion part without increasing the diameter of the insertion part.

CONSTITUTION: In the tip end unit 10 of the insertion tip part 7 of an endoscope, plural small-diameter illumination pipes 22 which emit illumination light are arranged axially and side by side. One end of the illumination unit 20a of a light guide 20 is fixed to each of the illumination pipes 22 opposite a lamp 23. Plural illumination units 20a of the light guide 20 are put together at the tip part, the tip end surface of the light guide 20 is arranged opposite the illumination lens 19 in a illumination window, and illumination light from the illumination pipes 22 is guided by the light guide to the insertion tip and projected from the illumination window through the illumination lens 19.
